10.6.04 - A fired-up Forester squad started the match with a 30-16 win in game one over the University of St. Francis and came up with enough big plays on crucial points to pull off the upset in four games.  "This was a huge win for us," said Coach Schroeder.  "St. Francis came into this match in third place in the conference."  In game one, Jessica Kendall led the Forester attack with six kills, while Stephanie Stearns kept the defense going with 17 digs.  The Cougars jumped out to a 7-2 lead in game two, but following an HC timeout, the Foresters put together a run to pull even at 10-10.  After battling back and forth to a 30-30 tie, HC's Marissa Scheiber got a kill and Kellie Hanson served an ace to give the Foresters a 2-0 lead in the match.  HC's eight unforced errors swung the momentum and USF took advantage with the 30-23 win.  Game four saw several lead changes with neither team able to gain an advantage.  With the score tied at 32-32, HC's Andrea Tobey came up with a block to take the 33-32 lead and a Renee Biberstine kill sealed the win.  For the match, Kendall tallied 14 kills and four blocks.  Tiffany Malfait led the team with five blocks.  Jami Fusselman had a team-high 35 assists and added 19 digs.  Stearns finished with an amazing 41 digs on the night, and Kellie Hanson had five aces and scored 16 points on her serving.  "Stephanie had an outstanding night on defense for us.  In my nine years of coaching, I have never had a player dig that many balls in a match.  Anywhere St. Francis hit, Steph was there to dig it up."  The win moves the Foresters to 8-11 on the season and 2-3 in the MCC.
