Good defense and
aggressive hitting helped lead the Foresters to a win in three
straight games 30-24, 30-25, 30-20 over Taylor University Fort Wayne.
HU pounded the ball
at the net leading to many easy points. Alyssa Schroeder, who dished
out a team-high 38 assists, got several players involved in the
display. Renee Biberstine led the onslaught with 14 kills, Kayley
Cervenka added nine and Brittney Smelser had seven. “We’ve got a lot
of good hitters and that’s kind of what we’ve been focusing on,” said
Coach Schroeder. “I think we just overpowered them.”
The Foresters also played solid defense throughout the match which
also aided their offensive effort. Stephanie Stearns, the 2005 MCC
Libero of the Year, had her usual performance contributing a
team-leading 23 digs. “Stephanie, she just covers everything,” said
Coach Schroeder. “Not only does she get the digs, but she digs to
target, which makes it easier for our setters to run our offense.”
With the win, the Foresters improve to 18-6 on the season. |
