11.03.07 - In their final regular season event, the Foresters defeated all three opponents they faced to win their own tournament.

In the opener, HU knocked off Lindsey Wilson College 30-19, 30-16, 25-30, 30-26.  Brittney Smelser led the team with 20 kills and added 14 digs.  Natalie Villwock chipped in 12 kills, five aces and two blocks.  Alyssa Schroeder dished out 45 assists and added four aces and Stephanie Stearns had a team high 30 digs.

In their second match, the Foresters needed five games to put away McKendree College 30-23, 31-33, 26-30, 30-19, 15-6.  Smelser put down 28 kills and added three aces.  Schroeder tallied 51 assists, four blocks and 17 digs.  Amanda Meyers contributed 12 kills, 12 digs and three aces and Stearns had 51 digs.

HU made quick work of the University of Michigan-Dearborn in the third match disposing of the Wolves 30-20, 30-20, 31-29.  Again Smelser lead the Forester attack with 21 kills.  Schroeder finished with 41 assists and Stearns had 21 digs.

"We played pretty well all day," said Coach Schroeder.  "We went into a little bit of a slump in the middle of the McKendree match, but overall I was pleased with our performance.  I hope this will help propel us to play well on Tuesday in the conference tourney against St. Francis."

With the three wins, HU heads into post-season play with a record of 23-7. The Foresters earned the fourth seed in the MCC Tournament and will host the 5th-seeded Cougars of St. Francis on Tuesday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m.
