11.08.07 - The Foresters were hoping for a different outcome in their rematch with Taylor University, but the Trojans again topped HU 30-22, 30-26, 26-30, 30-27 in an MCC tournament semifinal match.

The Foresters had a sluggish start.  They struggled with their passing which limited their number of quality offensive opportunities.  Taylor also made things difficult at the net with some outstanding blocking, forcing HU to adjust their hitting.

After falling 30-22 in game one, the Foresters kept pace with Taylor in the remaining three games, but couldn't come up with the big points in crucial situations.  HU was able to avoid the sweep by winning game three, but finally succumbed in the fourth.

Brittney Smelser led HU with 15 kills and she added 18 digs.  Heidi Christner had a team-high three blocks.  Alyssa Schroeder dished out 48 assists, had 10 digs and two blocks and Stephanie Stearns led the team with 32 digs.

The loss drops the Foresters to 24-8 on the season.  With three MCC teams automatically qualifying for the NAIA Region VIII Tournament next week, the Foresters will play a consolation game on Saturday against Bethel College, who lost to Indiana Wesleyan in last night's other MCC semifinal, to determine who will get the third berth.  The match will be played at Taylor University at 10:30 a.m.  Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan will square off in the championship match at 1:00 p.m.
