09.12.07 - An undersized Forester squad used aggressive serving and an up-tempo offense to collect its first MCC win of the season, a 30-17, 30-23, 30-28 victory over the University of St. Francis.

To compete against the much taller Cougar line-up, the Foresters created a game-plan, stuck to it and pulled off the big win.  The Foresters used a lot of jump serves that put St. Francis on the defensive.  Alyssa Schroeder (7) and Brittney Smelser (6) combined for 13 aces which kept the Cougars off balance and unable to take advantage of their size.  HU also passed well from start to finish giving themselves opportunities to run a quicker paced offense that worked well against the St. Francis frontline.

Brittney Smelser led HU with 15 kills.  Kayley Cervenka and Smelser each had three blocks, Stephanie Stearns had 16 digs and Alyssa Schroeder added 37 assists.

"We started out right from the beginning doing everything well that we have been working on," said Coach Schroeder. "Our serves took St. Francis out of the match from the start and Alyssa and Brittney connected extremely well with each other on offense."
