Wawasee High School senior, Krista Spearman, has signed a Letter of
Intent to continue her volleyball career at Huntington University next
fall.
In her final season
as a Warrior, Spearman was an All-Northern Lakes Conference selection
and earned Indiana All-Northeastern Second Team honors. Throughout
her three-year varsity career, she tallied 509 kills and will graduate
holding four school records including most blocks in a single match
(12), most blocks in a season (111), most career blocks (294) and most
kills in a single match (25).
Huntington Coach Dave Schroeder is excited about the addition of
Spearman. “Krista brings size and a lot of athleticism to our already
talented front row,” said Schroeder. “She will fit right in with our
up-tempo offense we like to run. Defensively, she is a very talented
blocker.”
Spearman already has made a name for herself on Huntington’s campus as
an artist. She was the Best of Show winner at the third annual High
School Art Exhibit hosted by the University with a charcoal drawing
titled “Message in a Bottle”. She also received honorable mention
with a pencil drawing that was a self portrait of herself playing
volleyball. Not surprisingly, Spearman plans to pursue a degree in
Art Education while attending HU. Krista is the daughter of Denny and
Janet Spearman of Leesburg, Indiana. |
