10.16.09 - The Foresters went 1-3 at the Olivet Nazarene University Homestead Classic over the weekend.  HU setter Alyssa Schroeder was named to the all-tournament team.

HU outlasted William Penn in the first game, 25-19, 21-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-13.  Alyssa Schroeder recorded 45 assists, five blocks and two aces to lead the way.  Brittney Smelser fueled the Forester offense with 21 kills while Stacie Hoffman and Katie Bowers chipped in 12 and 10 kills respectively.

In the second hard fought battle of the night, the Foresters fell to Lee University in five games, 25-23, 17-25, 23-25, 25-20, 10-15.  Smelser led HU with 20 kills followed by Amanda Meyers with 11.  Meyers also recorded 19 digs while Schroeder dished out 43 assists and had four blocks.

On Saturday the Foresters never really got things going against two tough teams recording a 18-25, 17-25, 17-25 loss to Grand View and a 16-25, 18-25, 25-27 loss to Oklahoma Baptist. 

Against Grand View Smelser had nine kills and 16 digs.  Schroeder recorded 21 assists and eight digs.  In the final game of the weekend against Oklahoma Baptist the Foresters' attack was led by Hoffman and Smelser who had 11 and ten kills respectively.  Alyssa Schroeder had 23 assists and Katie Bowers chipped in 20 digs. 

After this weekend, the Foresters are 13-13.  They will host Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday.
