With a solid core of players from last year’s squad and the addition of several talented newcomers, the Foresters are hoping for an exciting season. Topping the list of returners are Second Team All-Conference selections, senior Alyssa Schroeder, the Foresters’ starting setter for the past three years, and Brittany Smelser, one of the top hitters in the MCC. Smelser led the conference in aces per game last season.  Outside hitters, Courtney Berger and Amanda Meyers will also help lead the 2009 Forester squad.

Rounding out the list of returners is junior Lindsay Bowman who will add defensive intensity to back court play while sophomore Rebekah Brown will bring size and good court awareness to the middle hitter position.

A talented recruiting class brings depth to the Forester roster. Taylor University Fort Wayne transfer Denise Lehman and freshmen Katie Bowers and Stacie Hoffman will look to earn early minutes. Freshman Jessica Sullivan and junior Megan Smith bring athleticism to the roster.

"We have a very good nucleus of players returning from last year," says Coach Schroeder. "With the addition of Denise Lehman, a transfer from Taylor Fort Wayne, and freshmen Katie Bowers and Stacie Hoffman, I'm looking to get back into the top half of the conference.,"
