12.27.04 - In the first round of the St. Xavier University Christmas Tip-off Tournament, the Foresters avenged an earlier loss with their 73-69 win over St. Ambrose University.  HC fell to the Fighting Bees 80-72 in the championship game of the St. Ambrose Tournament back on December 6 when they were without starters Jessica Ramey and Janna Knisely.  With Jamie Grogg and Betsey Bean in early foul trouble, Ramey went to work for the Foresters and finished with a team-high 22 points and five assists.  Knisely also made her presence felt with 10 rebounds, six points and three assists.  After a two week layoff, both teams struggled from the field early.  St Ambrose shot 22.9% (8-35) in the opening period and HC went 10-29 from the field for 34.5%, giving the Foresters a 25-20 edge at the break.  In the second half, both teams found their range.  The Fighting Bees made several runs at HC, but the Foresters hit the big shots when they needed them, including Grogg's 4-4 performance from the line in the waning seconds to seal the win.  Joining Ramey in double figures for HC was Amy Berry with 15, Grogg with 14, and Bean with 12.  St. Ambrose's Jennifer Goetz led all scorers in the game with 26.  With the win, the women improve to 5-8 on the season.  The Foresters advance to the semifinals of the Christmas Tourney and will face Aquinas tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
