- In their final regular season game of the season, the
Foresters turned the ball over too many times and allow the Bethel
College Pilots to run away with the 80-61 win. With the score
tied at 23 with 5:58 left in the first half, HC committed five
turnovers on its final ten possessions, sparking a 14-6 run for the
Pilots to close out the half. After the break, things did not
improve for the Foresters as they had nine more miscues by the time
they reached the midpoint of the half. Bethel continued to
take advantage and stretched its lead to 58-40 with 10:18 to play.
A full court press sparked a 7-2 run for HC to bring them within 13
at 60-47, but back-to-back threes by Chasity Zellers put an end to
the threat. The Foresters could get no closer the rest of the
way. HC's Jessica Ramey and Bethel's Natalie Young shared
game-high honors with each scoring 26 points. No other
Forester reached double digits, whereas Zellers finished with 23 and
Brandy Jerrell added 11 for the Pilots. The women conclude
their regular season with a 12-15 record and placed sixth in the MCC
standings with a record of 7-9. Huntington must await the
outcome of Saturday's game between Taylor and St. Francis to
determine who they will play in the first round of the conference
tournament. The Foresters will play the loser of that game on
the road on Tuesday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m.
