- The Foresters put together
another solid defensive effort to pick up the 65-51 win over Grace
College keeping the Lancers winless in Mid-Central Conference play.
HC’s defense held Grace to just three field goals on 14% shooting in
the opening period while the Foresters shot 50% (14-28) on their way
to a 30-13 advantage at the break. HC maintained its lead through
most of the second half until the Lancers made a late run to cut the
lead to 10 with under a minute to play. The Foresters’ backcourt
duo of Jessica Ramey and Jamie Grogg put the finishing touches on
the win with each hitting two free throws in the final 30 seconds.
Betsey Bean led HC with 15 points in the game. Ramey and Grogg each
had six assists and three steals to go along with 13 points and 12
points respectively. Amy Wanemacher came off the bench to grab a
team-high six rebounds. For Grace, Amber Riffell had 15 points and
six rebounds and Laura Kister chipped in 14 points and five boards.
The win moves the women to 10-13 on the season and 5-7 in the MCC.
