The Foresters used an aggressive defense to burn the Maple Leafs of
Goshen College 48-25. Goshen worked its way into an 11-9 lead seven
minutes into the game, but the Foresters went up 13-11 on a Betsey
Bean jumper, and then they put their defense to work. Huntington
held the Maple Leafs to just one field goal over the final ten
minutes of the half and took a 22-13 lead to the locker room. In
the second half, Huntington’s defense picked up where it left off
and allowed Goshen one free throw over the first ten minutes. When
Danielle Haney hit a 3-pointer from the top to finally end the Maple
Leafs’ drought, the Foresters had pushed their lead to 35-17 and
out-scored Goshen 13-8 the rest of the way. For the game,
Huntington held Goshen to 15% shooting (8-52) from the field while
going 21-56 for 38% themselves. Amy Berry was the only player to
reach double digits in the game, scoring 16 points on 7-12 shooting
for the Foresters. She also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
