The
National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has
announced its awards for the 2004-05 season and Huntington College’s
Betsey Bean and Jamie Grogg earned NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete
honors. All such honorees are either a junior or senior
academically, carry above a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, and
excel on the basketball court.
This season Bean, a junior small
forward, started every game for the Foresters and finished as the
team’s leading rebounder (6.9) and fourth-leading scorer (11.8).
Grogg, a senior shooting guard, also started every game for
Huntington. She was the team’s second-leading scorer at 12.9 points
per game and led the team in 3-point shooting and free throw
percentage. Grogg was 71-174 from behind the arc for 40.8% and
61-69 from the line for 88.4%.
