01.11.06 - The Huntington University Foresters (9-8, 4-3) shot 56% for the game en route to a 79-73 victory over the Spring Arbor University Cougars.   The two teams seesawed back and forth through most of the first half until the Foresters put together a 12-2 run giving them a 36-26 lead with 1:30 left in the half.  Huntington finished the half shooting 15-27 from the field for 56% to take a 38-29 advantage at the break. 

The Foresters continued to click on the offensive end early in the second half and pushed their lead to 15-points at 54-39 through the first five minutes of play.  Huntington was still up 75-62 with 4:20 remaining, but Spring Arbor had time for a final run.  The Cougars rallied with a 9-0 spurt over the next four minutes to draw within 75-71, but HU’s Janna Knisely hit a jumper from the elbow with 27 seconds left to put the game out of reach.  Spring Arbor’s Jenna Sharp scored a quick layup, but Kendra Stahl put the finishing touches on the win with two free throws with eight seconds on the clock. 

Two Foresters contributed double-doubles in the winning effort.  Betsey Bean scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 10 boards, and Jessica Ramey finished with 14 points and a career-high 13 assists.  Janna Knisely added 17 points and seven rebounds and Amy Berry had 16 points.  Spring Arbor’s Kristen Miller led three Cougars in double figures with 19 points.  Sharp had 18 points and eight rebounds and Megan Razavi finished with 17 points.
