11.12.05 - The NAIA #2-ranked Cedarville University Yellow Jackets used an up-tempo first half to build a 22-point lead at the break and then held off the Foresters for an 83-61 final.

Huntington hung with the Yellow Jackets for the first five minutes, but three missed shots and three turnovers later, Cedarville’s one-point lead quickly mushroomed to 15.  The Yellow Jackets’ half court trap kept the Foresters off balance on the offensive end, which allowed Cedarville to extend its lead to 49-27 at the half.  In the second half, Huntington finally began to figure out the press and turned up the intensity on the defensive end.  The Foresters cut the lead to 15 points early in the half, but a 6-1 Cedarville run ended the threat.  With just under 10 minutes to play, Huntington again cut into the Yellow Jacket lead, but Tournament MVP Brittany Smart knocked down three of her game-high 18 points to swing the momentum one last time.

Joining Smart in double figures for Cedarville were Stacie Travis with 17, Kristie Beougher with 16, Karah Walton with 11 and Emily Delimpo with 10.  Janna Knisely took top scoring honors for Huntington with 17 points and five rebounds.   Betsey Bean added 15 points and Jessica Ramey finished with a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists.  Other members of the All-Tournament team were Ramey for Huntington, Travis and Delimpo from Cedarville, Cassidy Wertman from Ohio Dominican and Barbie Heerdt from Trinity Christian.  The Foresters (1-2) return to action on Tuesday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. when they host Aquinas College.
