12.10.05 - Down nine twice early in the second half, the Foresters used their defense to hang around long enough to steal the 64-63 win on the road over the Titans of Indiana University South Bend.

HU got off to a great start knocking down its first seven field goal attempts to take its largest lead of the game at 15-8 five minutes into the game.  The Foresters kept their margin between 3-5 points for most of the half, but some HU foul trouble allowed IU South Bend to close out the half with a 5-0 run putting the Titans up 32-28 at intermission.

IU South Bend continued to roll early in the second stanza and had a nine-point advantage at 44-35 with 15:14 on the clock.  The Foresters chipped away at the deficit over the next five minutes and pulled within one at 51-50 at the 10:30 mark.  The Titans scored four unanswered points to push their lead back to 55-50 with nine minutes to play.  The two teams traded baskets over the next five minutes with IU South Bend taking a 63-58 lead on a Britt Rager jumper with 4:37 to play.  It was the last time the Titans would score.

Jessica Ramey hit a layup at the 3:23 mark to pull HU within three at 63-60.  Janna Knisely made it 63-62 with a jumper at the elbow at the 1:45 mark, and Betsey Bean scored a layup off a back screen to give the Foresters their first lead of the half at 64-63 with 1:09 to go.  HU forced IU South Bend into a turnover on its next possession.  With 39 ticks left, the Titans fouled Ramey sending her to the line for the one-and-one.  She missed the front end, but Amy Berry came up with the big offensive rebound.  The Titans again fouled Ramey with 23 seconds left.  Ramey missed both free throws of the double bonus and the Titans grabbed the rebound and called timeout with 13.5 on the clock to set up their final play.  The Titans tried to find an open look running players off two different double screens, but the Forester defense held and Stacy Spurgeon's running jumper at the buzzer was off the mark.

Ramey took game-high honors with 18 points on the day.  Knisely added 17 and Bean finished with 14.  Rager had 13 points and five rebounds for the Titans.  With the win, the women improve to 6-5 on the season.
