02.11.06 - For the fourth consecutive game, the Forester defense held an opponent to 50 or less points, defeating Spring Arbor University 63-49 to push their winning streak to five in a row.  The Cougars came out on fire to take the early 9-4 lead, but HU battled back and claimed an 18-17 lead on an Amy Berry jumper at the 11:39 mark.  A mini 8-2 run gave the Foresters their largest lead of the half at 26-19, but the hot-shooting Cougars cut it to 32-29 as the teams headed to their locker rooms.

Sprig Arbor hung with the Foresters through the first six minutes of the second half, but then HU's defense took over.  A Shanna Grubaugh basket trimmed the Cougars' deficit to 41-37 with 13:47 to play, but the Foresters then held Spring Arbor scoreless for over five minutes, building a 49-37 advantage in the process.  A jumper by Rachel Pettit finally ended the Cougars' drought, but another 6-1 pushed HU's margin to 15 at 55-40 with six minutes to go.  A trey from Grubaugh cut it to ten at the 2:44 mark, but the Cougars could get no closer.

After allowing Spring Arbor to shoot 55% in the first half, the Foresters held them to just six field goals on 24% shooting in the second and 38% for the game.  HU went 25-58 from the field for 43% for the game.  The Foresters also took better care of the ball, committing 13 turnovers to 21 by Spring Arbor.  HU's Berry led all scorers in the game with 24 points on 9-14 shooting and 6-7 from the line.  Jessica Ramey added 18 points and four assists.  Grubaugh and Kara Buehrer each had 10 to lead the Cougars.  With the win, the women improve to 16-10 on the season and 11-4 in the MCC.
