02.01.06 - The Huntington University Foresters (13-10, 8-4) used two big runs to put away the Grace College Lancers (6-15, 2-9) 63-43.  Grace’s Kami Hilliker drained a three-point field goal to put the Lancers up 10-9 six minutes into the game.  On the Foresters’ next possession, Janna Knisely scored a lay-up, giving Huntington the lead for good.  Over the next six minutes, the Foresters out-scored Grace 11-2 to put Huntington up 22-12.   The Foresters pushed the lead to 13 on a transition lay-up by Kendra Stahl with just under two minutes to play in the half.  But Grace’s long-range shooting kept them in the game as Hilliker and Lauren Zeltwanger hit back to back threes to cut their deficit to seven.  Amy Berry stopped the run with a jumper on Huntington’s final possession of the half to give the Foresters a 34-25 lead at the break.

In the second half, Huntington gradually pushed its lead to 14 at 43-29 with 12:51 to play, but the Lancers again got hot from behind the arc.  Grace knocked down three consecutive treys to pull back within seven at 47-40 at the 8:25 mark.  The Foresters then put together their second big run of the game.  Huntington outscored the Lancers 16-1 over a seven minute span to finally put the game out of reach.

Berry recorded her first double-double of the season with 23 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Foresters.  Betsey Bean joined her in double digits with 13 points.  Jessica Ramey added nine points and nine assists in the win.  Hilliker was the lone Lancer to reach double figures with 12.
