01.19.08 - The Huntington University Foresters (12-7, 4-3) led by as many as 21 points in the second half and then held off a late rally attempt to down Goshen College 75-64.

The Foresters jumped out to a 10-1 lead to open the game, but Goshen (7-13, 1-6) came back with a 10-5 run to pull within 15-11 at the 12:39 mark.  A Lauren Davenport jumper with 8:38 on the clock put Huntington’s lead back in double figures at 23-13 and the Foresters pushed it to as many as 17 with under a minute left in the half.  Goshen’s Kimmie Hummer was fouled on a three-point attempt with two tenths of a second to play and hit all three free throws to cut it to 41-27 at the break.

The two teams traded baskets early in the second half until the Foresters put together a 5-0 spurt to take their largest lead of the game 52-31.  Huntington maintained the double digit margin until an Ashley Hummer layup brought Goshen within nine at 68-59 with just under two minutes to play.  The Foresters then went 7-9 at the charity stripe down the stretch to seal the win.

Huntington’s Davenport topped all scorers in the game with 20 points on 8-10 shooting.  She also tallied eight rebounds and six assists in the game.  She was joined in double figures by Brittney Bateman with 14, Erica Yost with 12 and Ryleigh Carr with 11.  Cassie Greives led the Maple Leafs with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
