01.30.08 - The Foresters (13-9, 5-5) gave 5th-ranked University of St. Francis all they could handle, but came up just short of the upset as they fell 73-70 to the Cougars (21-2, 8-1).

The Cougars jumped out to a 9-2 lead and looked to have Huntington on the ropes early, but the Foresters held St. Francis to two field goals over the next ten minutes to jump in front 18-13 with seven minutes to play.  An Erica Yost layup at the 5:38 mark gave Huntington its largest lead of the game at 24-17 and the Foresters were still up 26-19 with 4:30 to go in the half.  St. Francis used an 11-6 run down the stretch to pull within two at 32-30 at the break.

The Cougars got nine straight points from Marie Kaufman to open the second half giving St. Francis a 39-33 lead three minutes into the period.  An 11-4 Huntington spurt gave the advantage back to the Foresters at 44-43 at the 13:38 mark and they were still in front 51-50 at the mid-point of the half, but it was the last time Huntington would have the lead.  St. Francis made a 16-6 run to take its largest lead of the game at 66-57 with 3:38 to play.  The Foresters continued to battle and got back within five with a minute and a half left.  Huntington then sent the Cougars to the line and was able to make up a little more ground with a couple treys in the final minute, but time ran out on the rally attempt.

Kaufman took game-high honors with 25 points for St. Francis.  She was joined in double figures by Kacy Blotkamp with 19 points on 6-10 shooting, including 4-8 from behind the arc.  Jenna Donaldson topped four Foresters in double figures with 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds.  Yost chipped in 17 off the bench, Courtney Beerbower had 16 points and Lauren Davenport finished with 10 and five assists.
