11.13.07 - Aquinas College (3-0) shot 61% in the second half to hand Huntington University (3-1) a 67-62 loss, the first of the season for the Foresters.  

HU jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the game, but the Saints came back and knotted it at 7-7.  The two teams traded five points, but Aquinas then turned the 12-12 tie into a 19-12 lead over the next four minutes.  The Foresters got back in it by holding Aquinas scoreless over the next five minutes to pull within three at 19-16 and then they trimmed it to two by halftime at 28-26. 

Things stayed close through the first six minutes of the second period, but then HU went cold from the field.  Aquinas took advantage with a 16-6 run to take a 53-40 lead with 8:31 to go.  The Foresters got back within single digits at the 1:37 mark and then began sending Aquinas to the line. The Saints missed three of four charity tosses allowing HU to pull within four with 13 seconds left, but time ran out on the Foresters’ comeback. 

Aquinas’ Joslyn Narber topped all scorers in the game with 23 points.  Claire Hogan added 13 and Alicia McCarthy finished with 11.  Carrie Abdo grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. For Huntington, Courtney Beerbower posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards.  Erica Yost added 12 points and Lauren Davenport finished with 10 points and eight assists.  

The Foresters shot 37.9% (22-58) for the game while Aquinas went 28-61 from the field for 45.9%.  The Saints won the battle of the boards 44 -35.  Although HU out-scored the Aquinas 15-7 at the line, the Foresters hit just 62.5% of their attempts.
