12.08.07 - The NAIA Division II third-ranked Cougars of St. Francis shot 61% in the second half to spoil any hopes of a Forester upset as St. Francis topped HU 66-50.

The first half was a defensive battle with both teams taking the other out of any offensive rhythm.  The Cougars took an early 6-0 lead, but HU knotted the score at 13 at the 12:30 mark.  With just under three minutes to play in the half, Lauren Davenport again brought the Foresters even at 21-21 with a jumper just outside the paint, but St. Francis scored six unanswered points to finish the half and owned a 27-21 lead at the break.

Although HU was able to cut the deficit to three at 32-29 early in the second half, the hot-shooting Cougars seemed to have the answer each time the Foresters made a run.  A Marie Kaufmann jumper put St. Francis up 11 at 44-33 with 13:17 to play.  HU cut it to 10 on several occasions, but could get no closer.

HU's Jenna Donaldson took game-high honors with 17 points and 10 rebounds.  She was the lone Forester to reach double figures.  Davenport finished with nine points and four assists.  Kaufmann paced the Cougars with 16 points and Toni Burney added 14.

For the game, HU managed just 33.9% shooting from the field and was 8 of 15 from the line for 53% while St. Francis shot 49.1% for the game and went 12-20 at the line for 63.2%.
