02.02.08 - Bethel College's Natalie Young and Hannah Richards combined for 52 points to down the Foresters 83-69.  Young scored 21 of her game-high 32 points in the first half and Richards put in 18 of her 20 in the second to keep HU at bay.  The NAIA 4th-ranked Pilots (22-2, 11-0), who out-rebounded the HU 37-26, got critical offensive rebounds down the stretch to hold off a late Forester rally.

The Foresters (13-10, 5-6) hung with Bethel throughout most of the first half and were down 29-27 with 4:13 to go, but they got just one field goal and one free throw to drop over the final four minutes.  The Pilots took advantage and headed to the locker room with a 38-30 lead over HU.

The Foresters' shooting woes continued at the start of the second half and they found themselves down 50-38 four minutes into the period.  HU got back within six at 55-49, but again Bethel surged ahead to take its largest lead of the game at 66-53 on A Bekah Bassinger three with 7:16 to play.  The Foresters' change in defense paid off over the next five minutes and again they were able to pull within six with 3:28 remaining.

Following a Pilot turnover, HU had a chance to trim the deficit further, but an Erica Yost three was off the mark.  HU fouled Richards on Bethel's next possession and she hit the first of two, but Paula Stout came up with a big offensive rebound for the Pilots.  Bassinger's three-point attempt 15 seconds later bounced off the rim, but again, HU could not come up with the rebound.  Young then put in the final dagger with a three from the right wing to push Bethel's lead back to 10 with 1:19 left. Two Donaldson free throws cut it to 77-69 and then HU began to foul.  The Pilots went 6-8 down the stretch to hold off HU and remain unbeaten in MCC play.

The Foresters put three in double figures with Donaldson topping the list with her 26 points on 12-18 shooting.  Erica Yost chipped in 14 points off the bench and Lauren Davenport finished with 12 points and eight assists.  Nora Didrick had 10 points to go along with Young and Richards' totals and Bethel's Paula Stout took game-high honors with 10 rebounds.
