02.06.08 - The Taylor University Trojans (13-12, 7-5) shot 62% for the game on their way to an 82-79 come-from-behind win over Huntington University (13-11, 5-7).  The Foresters led by as many as nine at 73-64 with just under seven minutes to play, but got out-scored 18-6 down the stretch.

Huntington jumped out to an 8-2 lead, but the Trojans came up with an 11-4 run to go on top 13-12 at the 13:11 mark.  The two teams traded baskets for several minutes until the Foresters forced the Trojans into three consecutive turnovers allowing Huntington to turn a tie at 23 into a 30-23 advantage.  Again Taylor reined in the Foresters pulling even at 40 on a three from Nikki Kassebaum at the half-time buzzer.

The Trojans scored the first four points of the second stanza and were still up 53-52 with 13:47 to play.  On Huntington’s next possession, the Foresters jumped in front on a Jenna Donaldson shot at the top of the paint and built a nine-point cushion over the next six minutes.  But the Trojans wouldn’t go away.  They continued to chip away at Huntington’s lead and took an 80-79 lead on another Kassebaum trey with 1:32 remaining.  Following a Forester turnover, Alison Heesch scored on a driving lay-up to put Taylor up three with 48 seconds left.  Huntington missed two free throws and five shot attempts down the stretch and failed to score before time expired.

Both teams placed four players in double figures with Heesch leading the Trojans with 22.  Paige Rudolph had 20, Bethany Ballard added 13 points and nine boards and Kassebaum finished with 12.  Kendra Stahl paced Huntington with 22 points.  Courtney Beerbower finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, Jenna Donaldson chipped in 14 and Lauren Davenport had 12 points, six steals and four assists.
