- Brita
Kuiper, a multiple-sport athlete from Olivet High School in Olivet,
Michigan has signed a Letter of Intent to continue both her
basketball and softball careers at Huntington University next fall.

On the hardwood,
Kuiper has earned numerous accolades during her four years in the
Eagle basketball program. The 5’8 guard/forward is a three-time
All-Conference selection, a four-time all-area pick and a two-time
All-State honoree. As a senior this past season, Kuiper shot 57%
from the floor and averaged a double-double with 16.7 points and 14
rebounds to help lead Olivet to an 18-3 record.
Huntington
University basketball coach, Lori Culler, is looking forward to
Kuiper’s contributions to the team. “Brita’s work ethic, talent and
court sense will make her an early contributor for us,” said Coach
Culler. “She comes from a successful program and knows how hard you
have to work and the sacrifices you have to make to win
consistently. Aside from her athletic ability, Brita is just an
outstanding young lady and I’m looking forward to working with her
the next four years.”
Kuiper also has
displayed her athletic prowess on the softball field. Last season
as a junior, she hit .456 for the 20-7 Eagles. She also drove in 21
runs and stole 20 bases. Her accomplishments on the field as a
catcher for Olivet earned her All-League, All-Conference and
All-Area honors.
Doug Gower, Huntington’s head softball coach is expecting great
things from Kuiper. “I am looking forward
to having a very athletic catcher,” said Coach Gower. “She has had
a very solid high school career and has played a lot of travel
ball. Her experience will help us immediately. Brita also has a
tremendous work ethic with a personality that will be contagious.
She is the type of athlete that has the intangibles to take our
team to another level”.
Brita is the daughter of Kent and
Margaret Kuiper of Bellevue, Michigan. |
