- In a rough and tumble game, the Foresters were able to
withstand a very physical Trinity International team to earn their
second win of the season 68-51.
With neither team able to generate much offense in the first twelve
minutes of play, Jenna Donaldson hit a jumper that ignited an 8-0 run
that put HU up 14-7 at the 10:20 mark. The scrappy Trojan
defense then held the Foresters scoreless and forced them into 5
miscues over the next four minutes but fortunately only managed to
score three points of their own during the span. After trading
several baskets the half ended with the Foresters up 26-18.
Having made several adjustments at halftime, HU went on a 10-2 tear
in the first four minutes of the half to go up 36-20 at the 16:15
mark. The Trojans continued to apply full court pressure but the
Foresters remained posed, knocking down 52 percent of their field
goals and never allowing Trinity closer than twelve points.
Courtney Beerbower topped four
players in double figures for HU with a game-high 20 points. Sarah
Miller
finished with 15 and Donaldson added 12. Kelsey Green chipped
in 10 points off the bench.
Cassie Glendenning led the
Trojans
with 15 points while Melanie Duplessis chipped in 10 points.
The Foresters shot 42.6%
(20-47) for the game while Trinity International was 19-49 for 38.8%. HU
also forced the Trojans into 33 turnovers in the contest.
