10.05.05 - After spotting Marian College two goals, the Foresters fought back and managed a 2-2 draw. Marian took control of the game from the start and scored goals in the 21st and 27th minute to take the 2-0 lead.

HU began to regain some composure and drew a goal back when Ashley Gonterman floated a free kick into the box for Sarah Kaufman who managed to push the ball past the keeper for the score in the 37th minute. In the second half Marian again came out strong but it was Kaufman once again who scored the equalizer on an assist from Bethany Lewis in the 53rd minute. From there the game seesawed back and forth with neither team able to score before the end of regulation.

In the first overtime period, Marian upped the pressure even more, thoroughly dominating the 10 minute period.  The Knights appeared to have the game winner midway through, but Forester keeper Robyn Althoff came up with a great save. The second overtime was more balanced but neither team was able to score ending the game in a 2-2 draw.

"It was a wild game and I think we were fortunate to come away with the draw," said Coach Datema. "We played on our heels and let Marian dictate the play for long stretches at a time. Christi Shook had a strong game in midfield. She was especially strong in the air for us on their goal kicks and punts from their keeper."

Huntington now stands at 4-6-1 on the year and 1-3-1 in the MCC.
