| 09.10.05 - The
Trolls of Trinity Christian played the spoilers as they romped over
the Foresters 9-2 in HU's home opener.
Trinity Christian
pressed the Foresters right from the start, but the HU defense was
able to keep the Trolls out of the goal for the first 27 minutes.
But once the scoring began, the floodgates seemed to open as the
Trolls found the back of the net three times in the final 18 minutes
of the half.
In the second half
the Trolls put the game away early with a goal in the second minute of
the half and went on to complete the rout with five more to close out
the game.
“We played one of
the best teams we’ve ever faced today in Trinity Christian and their
quality showed," said Coach Datema. "But I was very disappointed
in how we responded. We allowed them to take us out of the game
mentally and that should never happen. Our players know that and they
are determined to learn from this game and move on.”
Huntington did
managed two goals in the second half to avoid a shutout. Kara
Fultz tapped in a pass from Sarah Kaufman in the 49th
minute and Mindy Perry scored on a long range shot on an assist by
Ashley Gonterman in the 84th minute. Huntington falls to
1-2 and opens their conference schedule next Wednesday when they visit
Grace College. |
