09.14.05 - After a disastrous showing in their last game, the Foresters rebounded with a 4-2 victory over MCC Conference foe Grace College.

HU's Bethany Lewis opened the scoring in the 9th minute when she stole the ball from the Lancer defense and found the back of the net.  Both teams battled it out for the next 30 minutes until Grace grabbed an equalizer in the 39th minute.  The teams went to the break with the score still knotted at 1-1.

Returning for the second half, Grace wasted no time taking the lead when Kari Wildman scored in just the second minute of the half.  Finding themselves down a goal, the Foresters rose to the challenge in dramatic fashion.  Mindy Perry found Sarah Kaufman on a break in the 50th minute to draw the score back level. Kaufman then latched on to the end of a Lewis cross from the wing to move HU in front once again just eight minutes later. Then Ashley Gonterman collected a loose ball and found space down the right side. Finding no one to pass to, she took her chance at goal from 25 yards and found the back of the net in the 70th minute to complete the scoring.

“This was a key game for our entire season after how we lost on Saturday," said Coach Datema.  "They realized after Grace scored its second goal that they could either roll over or step up to the challenge. I think they made an emphatic statement that they want to win. I was really pleased with the play of freshmen Bethany Lewis. She had a goal and an assist and made a big contribution on the right side.”

Huntington now stands at 2-2 on the year and 1-0 in the conference.
