09.24.05 - Sophomore Sarah Kaufman netted a career-high four goals to lead the Foresters to a 4-1 win over Hanover College.  After slow starts in its previous two games, HU turned the table as Mindy Perry assisted Kaufman just 22 seconds into the game. The same pair combined again just a minute later to make the score 2-0. Hanover got back in the game in the 15th minute, but Kaufman responded with her third goal of the game, this one unassisted in the 18th minute to restore the two goal advantage.

In the second half, Shannon Holly then set up Kaufman's fourth goal in the 63rd minute when she fed her for the final score in the game. Aside from marking a career high for Kaufman, her fourth goal also pushed her past Erin Abbey as the Foresters' all-time leading scorer with 26 goals in just a year and a half of play.  She also notched her 66th career point (2 for a goal and 1 for an assist) passing Abbey’s former record of 61.

“We have had a hard week as we have played three teams ranked in the top five of our region since last Saturday," said Coach Datema.  "I was concerned that we were a little worn down and was afraid we would come out flat. But our players were determined to come out strong and it showed with the early goals. They also did a good job of making adjustments during the game and limited Hanover’s opportunities after they scored."

The win moves the Foresters to 3-5 on the season.
