The Foresters treated
a good-sized crowd to a great game as they tied Olivet Nazarene
University 2-2.
The Tigers opened the
scoring in the sixth minute, but HU responded with a goal of their
own midway through the half when a Bethany McGraw cross found Sarah
Kaufman who put it in the back of the net. The rest of the half went
back and forth with both sides having chances, but not finishing.
Ten minutes into the second half Olivet got a call in the box. The
Tigers’ Tadla scored on the penalty kick giving Olivet the lead back,
but HU didn’t back down. The Foresters carried play in the second half
out-shooting the Tigers 10-6. Sarah Kaufman evened the score with a
second goal off a beautiful move in the box.
"This was the best game I have seen the team play in my two years
here,” said Coach Sharpe. “I am so proud of the way the team played
across the board. This is the type of game that turns around a
program. ONU is one of the better teams on our schedule so we are very
excited to have this kind of result against them."
With the tie, the Foresters are 0-1-1 on the season. |
