Junior midfielder Bethany McGraw needed just one goal to break her
own school record for most goals in a season and she netted four to
lead the Foresters past Grace College 5-2. McGraw wrapped up
the regular season with 23 goals and has a chance to add to the
record in the upcoming MCC Tournament.
McGraw booted in the first goal of the
game at the 27:40 mark, but five minutes later Grace answered to
even the score. Stephanie Spitnale put HU back in front with
less than nine minutes left in the half and the 2-1 advantage held
at intermission.
Two and a half minutes in the second
half, McGraw got her second score of the afternoon to put the
Foresters up 3-1. The Lancers kept HU within reach with their
second score at the 68:45 mark, but McGraw put the game away with
her third and fourth goals in the 72nd and 79th minutes.
The win gave the Foresters a sixth
place finish in the conference standings with a 3-5 record and moved
them to 8-8-1 on the season. As the sixth seed in the MCC
Tournament, HU will travel to Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday, November
1 to take on the third-seeded Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. |
