| 08.30.08 - The HU
women's soccer team traveled to Ohio to open their season in a
tournament at Cedarville University. After storms forced the
postponement of Friday evening's game, the
Foresters were forced to play two matches on Saturday. HU
battled the host Yellow Jackets in the morning and fell 1-0 on an
own goal. The Foresters then came back five hours later to take on
Roberts Wesleyan and lost 6-3.
In the fourth minute of play in Cedarville match, the Yellow Jackets
sent a cross from the right. When HU tried to clear it, the
ball deflected off a Forester defender and went in the goal.
Unfortunately, it ended as the game winner for Cedarville.
Five hours later, HU was back at it
against Roberts Wesleyan who had been able to play its first game
the night before. The rested Raiders took advantage of HU's weary
legs and scored four unanswered goals in the first half.
The
Foresters regrouped at intermission and put together three straight
goals over the first 28 minutes of play in the second half to pull within one.
Bethany McGraw netted two and Brittany Carlson scored the third.
Roberts Wesleyan squelched HU's rally with two more goals in a two
minute span effectively putting the game out of reach. |
