Huntington University women’s soccer coach Ryan Burgher announced
the signing of another great talent from the Fort Wayne area. China
White, from Concordia Lutheran High School, has signed her letter of
intent and will join the Forester program this fall. She is
Coach Burgher's fourth commitment for the 2009 season.
White was a four-year starter for the Cadet squad and won the
Horizon Award in 2005. She also was named First Team All-Conference
her final three seasons. As a junior, she was presented the Top Team
Player award at Concordia and following her senior campaign, White
was selected Second Team All-District and was presented with the
Leadership Award for her team.
As a club player, White has played with the Fort Wayne Fever, The
Citadel, and the Fort Wayne Sports club. While playing for the
Fever, the team was a State Cup finalist in 2004, State Cup
Champions in 2005, and also placed third at Regionals in 2005.
White, who will be majoring in social work said, “I chose Huntington
because I just got a good vibe from the moment I walked onto campus.
From the people I met on the team to the good atmosphere, I felt
like it was the right college for me and that's where I belong,”
said White. “I am just really excited for a new start, different
surroundings, and a positive Christian atmosphere where I can learn,
grow, and just be myself.”
“I’m really excited that China decided on Huntington," said Coach
Burgher. "She is going to be a great addition to our team. She is
the type of player that gives 100% every time she is on the field.
She also is very tough which is going to bring some added
aggressiveness to our squad. I really felt China belonged here since
the first time she was on campus. She has such potential to do great
things on and off the field... I’m just really excited to have her
as a part of our family here at HU.”
