Nathan Sharpe enters his second year as head
coach of the women's
soccer
program and expects to have a much more successful season.
Sharpe's optimism is a result of the addition of his first recruiting class, which
happens to include Sarah Kaufman, the
program's all-time leading scorer, who is returning to HU for her final campaign.
Prior to
joining the HU staff,
Sharpe entered the coaching ranks when he took a
teaching position at Freedom Baptist School in Hudsonville,
Michigan after graduating from Moody Bible Institute in 2000.
There he began a girl’s soccer program and in 2002, he took over
the boy's program and led them to a state championship.
Sharpe also has
continued to
improve his coaching skills through the completion of four
diplomas offered by the National Soccer Coaches Association.
He has currently earned the
National diploma
as well as the Advanced Regional diploma and level one and two
diplomas for goalkeeping.
As a keeper for Lenawee Christian High School,
Sharpe earned All-State honors as a junior and senior, and then
went on to play four years at Moody.
Sharpe, his wife Alison and their son Payton will
immediately be thrust into campus life as Alison also joins HU’s
staff as Resident Director of Baker and Roush Halls. |
