HC WINS SEASON OPENER!

Huntington College women's soccer team opened the season with bang, defeating Thomas More College by the final score of 3-2.  Erin Abbey led the Foresters in scoring with 2 goals, with teammate Kara Shoemaker also collecting a goal.   Our Foresters are 1-0 on the season.

In game two of the season, our Foresters fell to Arian College (MI) by the final score of 7-0.  HC has an overall record of 1-1, and will play conference opponent Goshen College on September 15th.

In game three of the season, our Foresters defeated conference opponent Goshen College by the final score of 3-1.  HC led at the midway point 3-0.   Annie Zeller collected 2 goals, and teammate Kara Shoemaker added a 1 goal to complete the scoring for the Foresters.  HC is now 2-1 on the season, 1-0 in the MCC.

In game four of the season, our Foresters played at Trinity Christian, in Chicago.  HC fell behind at the midway point 1-0 but added 2 goals second period to get on the scoreboard.  Unfortunately, TC was also able to find the net in the second period for 2 goals, completing the scoring for the game at 3-2--TC. Kara Shoemaker and Annie Zeller each collected a goal for our Foresters.  HC is now 2-2 on the season.

In game #5 of the season, our Foresters played conference opponent Indiana Wesleyan University.  Our young Foresters were out-manned by the Wildcats, eventually falling by the final score of 10-0.  HC is now 2-3 on the season, 1-1 in the MCC.

In game #6 of the season, our Foresters played well early against Anderson University but ultimately fell by the final score of 9-0.  Two quick goals mid-way through the first half may have deflated our Foresters, who had held AU scoreless until those goals.  HC is now 2-4 on the season.

In game #7 of the season, our Foresters hosted conference opponent Marian College.  In a very similar fashion to HC's men's soccer match with Marian, our women's team competed evenly with the Knights of Marian for the entire game, ending in regulation with a 1-1 score.  In the first extra period both teams had opportunities to score but neither could find the goal.  In the second extra period, it looked as though the contest might come down to a kick-off until Marian scored on a break away at the 7:29 mark.  Kara Shoemaker scored to lone goal for HC, which falls to 2-5 on the season 1-2 in the MCC.

In game #8 of the season, our Foresters were defeated 4-0 by St. Francis University.  This was a closer game than what the score may indicate, with SF leading just 1-0 at the half, and 2-0 with 10 minutes remaining in the game.  The Foresters are 2-6 overall, 1-3 in the MCC.

In game #9 of the season, our Foresters were defeated 4-0 by Urbana.  HC falls to 2-7 overall, 1-3 in the MCC.

In game #10 of the season, our Foresters were defeated 2-0 by conference opponent Grace College.  HC is now 2-8 overall, 1-4 in the MCC.

In game #11 of the season, our Foresters hosted NCAA D-III Manchester College.  In this match, HC jumped out to a one point half-time lead, then added two additional goals in the second-half win going away, 3-0.  Erin Abbey collected all three goals for the Foresters, two assisted by Keisha Vowels.  Elizabeth Ballard and Beth Waterman combined at the goalkeeper position to get the shutout.  HC is now 3-8 overall.

In game #12 of the season, our Foresters traveled to play Franklin College.  In this game, HC jumped out to a halftime lead of 4-0, then push to lead to 7 -0 by the end of the contest.  Kara Shoemaker collected three goals, Eric Abby two goals, and Keisha Vowels and Elizabeth Ballard each one goal.  HC is now 4-8 on the season, and riding a two game winning streak--not to mention a two game shut-out streak.

In game #13 of the season, our Foresters had their winning streak halted by Bethel College in a match-up of MCC opponents.  HC fell in this very close contest by the final score of 1-0.  HC falls to 1-5 in the MCC, 4-9 overall.

In game #14 of the season, our Foresters pitched their third shut-out in four contests, defeating Defiance College by the final score of 1-0.  Annie Zeller scored the lone goal of the game with just 22 seconds remaining in the first half.  Elizabeth Ballard, goalkeeper for our Foresters, shut the door on all of the Defiance scoring opportunities.

In game #15 of the season, our Foresters fought hard but fell short against Olivet Nazarene by the final score of 2-1HC falls to 5-10 overall on the season, 1-5 in the MCC.

In game #16 of the season, our Foresters hosted conference opponent Taylor University.  In this game, HC had a very strong game play but was also battling injuries to several key players.  HC fell by the final score of 2-0, dropping to 5-11 overall, 1-6 in the MCC.

In game #17 of the season, our Foresters fell to Indiana Tech. by the final score of 1-0 in overtime.  This was the final regular season contest for our Foresters before opening MCC Tournament play.  HC is now 5-12 on the season.
