- Three Foresters secured first round wins in
the women's MCC tennis tournament. Number 1
Ashley Counts (6-4, 6-4) and #4 Jessica Deter
(6-3, 2-6, 6-2) both picked up wins in their
opening singles matches and teamed to win their
first doubles match 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 over Spring
Arbor University at #2 doubles. The two lost
their second doubles match 6-1, 6-1 to Marian
College. Deter's win in singles advanced her
to today's semi-final, while Counts fell 6-1, 6-3
to Goshen's Sarah Yoder in her second singles
match. Kyleigh Gast picked up the Foresters'
third win knocking off Marian College's Katrina
Kroics 6-3, 7-6 (4) at #3 singles. In other
first round matches, #2 Stacy Plett (6-0, 6-2), #5
Dawn Lauer (6-1, 6-3), and #6 Rachael Boersma
(7-5, 6-3) each fell in straight sets. Plett
and Gast lost 6-2, 6-1 to Taylor University at #1
doubles and Lauer and Boersma fell 6-0, 6-3 to
Bethel College at #3 doubles.
