10.13.07 - Stephanie Strong and Raelyn Althoff claimed the #1 doubles conference championship with a 9-8 win over Goshen's Diana Diaz and Laurelyn Foderaro at the MCC Tennis Championships.  The pair also received MCC All-Conference honors.  HU tied for fourth in the final team standings.

Indiana Wesleyan kept its strangle hold on the title, winning it with 19 points.  Bethel was second with 10 points followed by Marian (8), HU (7), Taylor (7), Grace (6), Goshen (4), Spring Arbor (2) and St. Francis (0).

Kendra Ganz and Jessica Deter also made it to the championship match at #2 doubles, but fell 9-8 to Bethel's Carrie Edison and Rachel Strittmatter.  Katie Sprunger and Liz Hull fell 8-6 in their opening match at #3 doubles.

In singles play, two HU players advanced to the semifinals.  Strong defeated Spring Arbor's Amy Smith 6-4, 6-2 at #1 before falling 6-2, 6-1 to Grace's Jessica Stolle and #5 Sprunger knocked off Taylor's Jennifer Warner 7-6, 6-3 and then fell 6-2, 6-1 to Indiana Wesleyan's Kristi Haddad.

At #2 singles, Althoff lost to Kristine Bolinger (Taylor) 7-5, 6-4 in the first round. Ganz was knocked out at #3 by Indiana Wesleyan's Brittany Raymond 6-2, 6-1.  Deter fell 6-3, 6-4 to Kayla Semmerling (Grace) at #4 and Erica Abel lost 6-4, 6-1 to Taylor's Mary Horton.
