MCC Coach of the Year Gary Turner returns a talented women’s squad that will challenge for the conference title this season after finishing second a year ago.  Two-time All-Conference junior Stephanie Strong and sophomore Raelyn Althoff, also an All-Conference player last season, will lead the Forester charge.  Last season, both Strong and Althoff went 6-2 in conference play at #1 and #2 singles respectively and both finished second in the conference tournament to earn their MCC honors.  Junior Kendra Ganz, who played #3 singles and #2 doubles also returns to the Forester lineup.  Ganz and former player Calli Fike paired for a 4-4 record in conference play and were runners-up at #2 doubles in the MCC Tournament last season.

With an experienced squad returning, Coach Turner had very few positions to fill.  His lone newcomer is freshman Erica Abel (Grandville, MI), a 5’11 power player, who played both doubles and singles and finished her career playing #2 singles for Grandville High School.  “Erica will bolster an already strong line-up,” said Coach Turner.  “With the departure of Calli Fike, Erica will be called upon to play higher on the ladder than was anticipated.  Her aggressive play will make her a solid player in both singles and doubles.”
