- The Foresters moved to 2-1 on the season
with back-to-back wins on the weekend. HU downed Manchester 7-2 on
Friday and then cruised to an 8-1 victory over the University of
Northwestern Ohio on Saturday.
Against Manchester, the Foresters
swept the doubles and took four of the six singles' matches.
In doubles' play, Stephanie Strong and Raelyn Althoff won 8-5 at #1
doubles. Haley Neiderhiser and Joni Holsem won by the same
score at #2 and Liz Hull and Kristen Lahman took #3 doubles 8-3.
Neiderhiser
blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at #2 singles for her second win of
the match. Althoff won nearly as easily going 6-1, 6-1 at #3.
Lahman needed a third set at #4 to pick up her second victory of the
day 6-7, 7-5, 10-2 and Erica Abel won 7-6, 6-0 at #6.
On Saturday, the
Foresters played without their top player, Strong, in the lineup and
still dominated UNOH. HU swept singles and won at #2 and #3
doubles.
Neiderhiser went
6-0, 6-1 at #1 singles. Althoff at #2 and Hull at #4 both
posted 6-0, 6-0 shutouts. Lahman outlasted her opponent 5-7,
6-4, 10-4 at #3. Abel was ahead 6-2, 5-1 when her opponent
retired at #5 and Kyla Zartman recorded the 6-4, 6-2 victory at #6.
In doubles' play,
Althoff and Zartman won 8-1 at #2 and Hull and Lahman got the 8-6
win at #3. |
