Dr. Beth Burch
Associate Professor of Biology
Dr. Beth Burch earned a
Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Millersville University in
Pennsylvania in 1985. She then pursued graduate studies in botany at the
University of Florida, where she earned a Master’s Degree in 1988, and
completed the Ph.D. in 1993. Her primary interests in botany are in plant
physiology and biochemistry. Her dissertation project was an examination of
the photosynthetic biochemistry of a marine alga. Dr. Burch joined the
faculty of Huntington University in 1993, and teaches general biology courses
in addition to the plant courses in the department. She holds memberships in
the American Society of Plant Biologists, National Association of Biology
Teachers and Indiana College Biology Teachers’ Association (Dr. Burch is
currently president of this association). She has presented her research at
national meetings of the American Society of Plant Biologists and has
published abstracts in Plant Physiology. Recently she gave
presentations on various effective teaching strategies at the Fort Wayne
Area Deans’ Conference and the IN College Biology Teachers’ annual meeting.
Beth is married to Greg and is the mother of two young sons.
