One session focused on looking for problems, pains, unfilled wants or unmet needs in the marketplace. The students had opportunities to brainstorm ideas of a product or service. Eggleton publishes two articles
Dr. Patrick Eggleton, associate professor of mathematics education, recently published two articles in the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics Spring/Summer 2007 journal of the Indiana Mathematics Teacher.  “Creating Better Problem Solvers: My Top 10 Strategies” provides ten instructional strategies that could be used in any mathematics classroom, grades K to 12. Ideas include creating a math trail, playing games, using literature, and valuing mistakes. Eggleton also was included as a contributor for the article disseminating results from an Indiana Department of Education research project to better understand the results of the required end of the year standardized testing for algebra students. The article, titled “Algebra I End-of-Course Assessment: Expectations for Student Learning,” was coauthored by Sheryl Stump (Ball State University), Patrick Eggleton (Huntington University), Michael Roach (Indiana Department of Education), and Kay Roebuck (Ball State University). The article provides observations that could help eliminate the gap between the intended (tested) curriculum and the implemented curriculum.
