Huntington
chosen for service honor roll
The
President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll has
recognized Huntington University for volunteerism locally and in
areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.
In addition to
local projects, students, faculty and staff volunteered in October
2005 as well as January and April 2006, assisting with Hurricane
Katrina clean-up efforts in Mississippi and Alabama.
“Part of the
mission of Huntington University is to involve students in acts of
service to others,” said Crystal Hippensteel, director of first year
students and volunteer service.

features video podcast by Rahn
Dr.
Dave Rahn, professor of youth ministries at Huntington University,
visited
LeaderTreks on Nov. 2 where he shared the importance of student
leadership development to a gathering of youth workers from the
Chicagoland area. At the Student Leadership Summit, youth workers
joined in a discussion with Rahn about the best practices for
equipping student leaders. Rahn's thoughts can be seen and heard on
the
Dec.12 edition of the LeaderTreks video podcast.

O'Donnell
to give 2007 economic forecast
The
Huntington University Foundation will present Jim O’Donnell’s “2007
Economic Forecast” for the Columbia City Area Chamber of Commerce
and the Wells County Chamber of Commerce on Jan. 4. The Columbia
City event will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Parkview Whitley
Hospital Auditorium, 353 N. Oak St.,
Columbia City. Breakfast will be served, and there is no
charge. RSVP by Dec. 28 to the Columbia City Area Chamber of
Commerce at (260) 248-8131. The Wells County event will begin at
noon at the Arts, Commerce & Visitors Centre on 211 W. Water St. in
Bluffton. The cost for the luncheon is $8. Sponsors include
Huntington University and the First Bank of Berne. RSVP by Dec. 28
to the Wells County Chamber of Commerce at (260) 824-0510.

Burnett receives positive reviews
Prof. Mike Burnett, assistant professor of theatre,
recently finished designing the scenery for the New
American Theater production of "Oliver." NAT is a
professional equity theatre in Rockford, Ill. The show
received favorable reviews, and the design was even
mentioned. "Mike Burnett's scenic design is very
effective and gives the director a wonderfully flexible
platform."
