January
Term offers unique courses
Huntington University’s
January Term offers six off-campus and 23 on-campus classes, giving
students a chance to delve into a single subject in-depth. The term
began Jan. 7 and ends Jan. 23. Through “Practicum in Romania,”
participants are studying the culture of Romania by living with
local host families and performing
social
work duties. A wide range of opportunities exist within Veritas,
a multi-faceted non-profit organization that has grown out of the
Romanian Studies Program. Students are working with disadvantaged
children, the elderly and people with disabilities in addition to
community development and teaching.

O'Donnell to share 2008
economic forecast
The
Huntington University Foundation
will present Jim O’Donnell’s 2007 economic review and 2008 economic
forecast for the Wells County Chamber of Commerce & Economic
Development on Jan. 10. His presentation is titled “The Sub-prime
Mess, Falling Dollar and Sky High Oil – Does 2008 Even Have a
Future?” Sponsored by Huntington University, the event will begin at
7:30 a.m. at the Arts, Commerce & Visitors Centre, 211 W. Water St.,
Bluffton, Ind. The cost for the breakfast is $8. RSVP to the Wells
County Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development at (260) 824-0510.
On Jan. 14, O'Donnell will present his economic forecast to the
Decatur
Chamber of Commerce.

Huntington
University receives Gold Award
The Workforce
Development Division of the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce
recently presented Huntington University with a Gold Award.
The award is given
to companies and individuals who contributed $10,000 or more to the
workforce efforts of the chamber of commerce during the fiscal year.
Dr. G. Blair Dowden, president of Huntington University, accepted
the recognition at a breakfast on Dec. 6. Sen. David Long, president
pro tempore of the Indiana Senate, served as speaker for the event.

Social work
students help community
Senior
social work majors at
Huntington University completed two major projects during the fall
semester as a part of their experiential learning in macro social
work.
Each student was assigned to a not-for-profit agency and
prepared a grant for the agency.

"Students at a Christian
Liberal Arts University"

O'Donnell book available in French
“Walking with
Arthur,” a book by Huntington University professor James O’Donnell,
is now available in French.
“Balade
avec Arthur” was released in the fall of 2007 by Swiss publisher
Ourania through the Bible House, a part of the United Bible
Societies. “Balade avec Arthur” is available through the
Bible House Web site.
“Walking
with Arthur,” released in February 2005 by Northfield Press, details
O’Donnell’s coming to faith in the midst of his Wall Street career
through an unexpected friendship with a neighbor, fellow commuter,
and Harvard-educated lawyer.
