remembers Coach K, Richard Klopfenstein
Richard
Klopfenstein, former
athletic director and chair
of the
Physical Education Department
at Huntington University, passed away Monday. He was 85.
Klopfenstein is
recognized as the “founding father” of the
Mid-Central College Conference,
the athletic conference in which the Foresters still compete.
Klopfenstein helped start the MCC in 1959 and served as the
organization’s first president.

DMHO to bring big band back
to Huntington
Denver & the Mile High Orchestra will bring big band back to Huntington University on March
28. The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of
the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Denver & the Mile High Orchestra
originally was scheduled to appear at the university Nov. 17 but
postponed the concert because of the production schedule for “The
Next Great American Band,” a new competition series that aired on
the FOX network.

to present math research
The
Christians in Scientific Careers seminar series will begin the
spring semester with
mathematics students Alicia
Hoffmann and Ashley Meyer presenting their summer research in
mathematics from 4 to 4:50 p.m. on Feb. 1 in Hiner Hall of the
Science Hall. On Feb. 15, Dr. Bobbi Buchholz, assistant professor of
mathematics, will present a summary of her recent doctoral
dissertation research titled “Self-Adjoint Matrix Equations on Time
Scales” at 4 p.m., also in Hiner Hall.

Benedict, LeMar
headline 'Attributes of Earth'
Huntington
University’s
Robert E. Wilson
Gallery will showcase artists Grace Benedict and Linda
LeMar in the exhibit “Attributes of the Earth: Drawings and Ceramic
Sculpture” from Feb. 4-28. This exhibit will feature drawings by
Benedict and ceramic work by LeMar, both of whom are from Lafayette,
Ind. An artists’ reception will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Feb.
9. The
Robert E. Wilson Gallery is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
before and after all Merillat Centre for the Arts performances, and

to present at conference
The 11th Annual
Fort Wayne
Teaching Conference will take place on Feb. 8 in the Walb
Memorial Union of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
Dr. Cindy Steury, associate professor of
education,
will present “Thinking Critically about Instruction” at the
conference.
The event is open to faculty at area colleges and universities, as
well as area school administrators. Sponsoring institutions are
Huntington University, Indiana Tech, IPFW, Ivy Tech Community
College, Manchester College, Taylor University Fort Wayne, and the
University of St. Francis.
