'Nero Bloom'
to premiere at Cinema Center
Lights!
Camera! Red carpet! “Nero
Bloom,” a film by Huntington University digital media arts
film students Jason Eberly and Nathan Hartman, will debut at Cinema
Center in Fort Wayne with a red carpet extravaganza at 7:30 p.m. on
May 8. This black-tie event will feature the cast and crew of “Nero
Bloom” shuttled in period cars and walking the red carpet into the
first showing of their film set for 8 p.m. Following the private
premiere will be a reception at Artlink. “Nero Bloom” will be shown
again at 9:30 p.m. for Huntington University students.

Leadership Luncheon
to feature Druhot
The
Huntington University Center for
Leadership will sponsor a Leadership Luncheon open to
business and community leaders on April 30. The luncheon will
feature Scott Druhot of Biomet who has developed nationally accepted
training programs for pharmaceutical companies. Because the Indiana
State Senate is still in session, Sen. Travis Holdman, who was
originally slated to speak at this luncheon, will present on May
28.Druhot’s presentation, titled “Strategic Leadership – Blocking
and Tackling,” is a response to the current economic and global
uncertainty and its negative effects on leadership.

Education honor
society inducts 22 members
At
a ceremony on April 20, Huntington University inducted 22 members
into the Omega Psi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi. Kappa Delta Pi is the
international honor society in education.
Education majors who are
at least second semester sophomores and whose overall grade point
average is at least a 3.5 are eligible for membership in Kappa Delta
Pi. Dr. Terrell Peace, professor in education, serves as the chapter
counselor for Omega Psi.

Students to showcase work in one-act
festival
Huntington
University juniors Alicia Bonham and Matthias Austin will present
the annual One-Act Play Festival at 7:30 p.m. on May 1-2 in the
Studio Theatre of the Merillat Centre for the
Arts. The student-directed plays are the final and largest
assignment of their Acting II class, though the cast features
theatre and non-theatre students alike. The public is invited to
attend. General admission is $2. Details >>
Northridge Middle School wins math contest
On April 22,
Huntington University held its annual
Middle Grades Math Competition.
The competition was held in Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat
Centre for the Arts on the university’s campus. There were 19 teams
comprised of a total of 159 sixth through ninth grade participants.
This is the largest math competition that Huntington University has
hosted. The students competed in three rounds: a multiple-choice
test, an individual quick-answer round and a team round. Scores were
tallied for each team and each individual. Northridge Middle School
came in first place with 745 total points. Edgewood Middle School
came in second with 655 points, and Concord Junior High School came
in third with 630.

Victory Noll to host Artists Weekend
Victory
Noll Center of Huntington, Ind., invites all artists of any
medium to take advantage of its campus as it blooms for spring.
Artists Weekend is May 1 from noon to 7 p.m. and May 2 from 9 a.m.
to 3 p.m. For some time, the grounds of Victory Noll have provided
artists of all types, including painters and photographers, with
inspiration for their pieces. Campus is also inviting to non-artists
to walk the grounds and watch artists produce their work.
The cost per
person for the entire weekend is $5 and $2 for school-age children.

What does it mean
to be Christ-centered?
'Behind the Scenes on
Wall Street'
Michael L. Smith, a vice president at Goldman Sachs,
will give a presentation titled “Behind the Scenes on
Wall Street” at 4 p.m. on May 1 in Hiner Hall of the
Science Hall at Huntington University. The presentation
is part of a seminar series titled “Christians Making a
Difference in the Sciences” and is free and open to the
public. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics
from Houghton College and a master’s degree in applied
mathematics from the University of Kentucky. He is the
son of Dr. Jerry Smith, professor of
physics and
chemistry.
