Huntington to host One
Generation concert
Huntington
University’s Office of Alumni Relations will host a free
concert at 8 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the
Merillat Centre for Arts. The event will feature
One Generation and is open
to the public. No tickets or reservations are required.
One Generation is a
group of five men whose goal is to “joyfully sing of God’s
righteousness” (Psalm 145:4-7). They use their unique a cappella
sound to present Christ through a wide variety of musical styles.

Anderson to speak about
multiculturalism
David
A. Anderson will present the Adams Tribute Lecture at Huntington
University on Oct. 9.
Anderson’s lecture
will be held in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for
the Arts at 7 p.m. His
Forester Lecture Series
presentation will include themes from his recent book,
“Gracism: The Art of Inclusion.” Anderson’s current ministry seeks
to build a multicultural evangelical fellowship of believers.

Parkview, YMCA team up for breakfast
series
The
Huntington University Foundation’s
Oct. 8 breakfast will feature Darlene Garrett, chief operating
officer of Parkview Huntington Hospital, and YMCA Executive Director
Dan Akeley. Garrett and Akeley will discuss the opening of the new
Parkview Huntington Family YMCA and share the services and benefits
that the new YMCA will offer to the community. The breakfast line
will open at 7:45 a.m. in Huntington University’s Habecker Dining
Commons, and the program will end by 9 a.m. The cost of admission is
$6 per person, and first-time guests eat free.

Gallery to showcase visual arts faculty
works
Huntington University will host the
visual arts faculty exhibit from Oct. 15 through Nov. 16 in
the Robert E. Wilson Gallery
of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The artists’ reception will be
held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16.
The exhibit will
feature works by four full-time visual arts faculty as well as
adjunct faculty. The Robert E. Wilson Gallery is open weekdays from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m., before and after all Merillat Centre for the Arts
performances, and by appointment. For further information, call

Huntington to host mathematics
competition
Huntington University will hold a
mathematics competition for high school students from 10
a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 8. Registration is open until Oct. 3. High
school teams from Indiana and Ohio will gather in Hiner Hall in the
university’s Science Hall to compete for the top prizes, both
individually and by team. If enough teams register, the competition
will be moved to the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for
the Arts. Students begin with a 20 multiple-choice question written
test, followed by a quick-response individual round. After lunch,
teams will work together on one final round of questions before
awards are given. Mathematica, a sponsor of the competition, will
award prizes to the top three individuals and the top three teams.

University to present band invitational
Bands from
Huntington County Schools, the Taylor University Wind Ensemble and
the Huntington University Wind Ensemble will present the 6th
Annual Band Invitational, a gala program of concert band classics,
on Oct. 7.

Dr.
Mark Fairchild, professor of Bible and religion, was
asked by the Society of Biblical Literature and the
Review of Biblical Literature to examine and critique
the book
“The Coins and the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine

Ruiz
attends conference
Dr. Matthew Ruiz,
assistant professor of applied exercise science, recently attended
the 23rd annual conference of the Association for Applied
Sport Psychology in St. Louis, Mo. He also was selected to serve on
the Finance Committee.
