Philharmonic to present 'Holiday
Pops'
Ring
in the Christmas season with friends, family and the “Holiday Pops,”
Huntington University’s favorite Yuletide celebration. The Fort
Wayne Philharmonic, the area’s premier symphony orchestra, will
perform seasonal favorites beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 in the
Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.
The concert will
feature a full orchestra conducted by Bradley Thachuk and will
exhibit vocalist Megan Meyer.

Music groups to perform
Christmas concert
Music
meant to celebrate the spirit of Christmas will be performed by
Huntington University’s
Department
of Music. Four groups will present an evening of
Christmas music in a shared concert titled “Celebrating the Light.”
The concert will take place on at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the Zurcher
Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Tickets are
available through the Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office by
called (260) 359-4261. General admission tickets are priced at $5,
and tickets are $3 for students, seniors, and Huntington University
faculty and staff.

Huntington to host
performance of 'Messiah'
The
Huntington University Concert Choir and Orchestra will join forces
with the Community Festival Chorus in the 54th annual
Huntington performance of Handel’s “Messiah.” The performance will
be at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 903 N.
Jefferson St., Huntington. The public is invited, and there is no
admission charge.

Breakfast to feature Christmas stories,
songs
The
Huntington
University Foundation will celebrate Christmas with
stories and songs of the season at its Dec. 10 breakfast. Huntington
University First Lady Chris Dowden will read Christmas stories, and
Dr. George Killian, associate professor of
music,
will lead the singing of traditional carols and holiday favorites.
The breakfast line will open at 7:45 a.m. in Huntington University’s
Habecker Dining Commons, and the program will end by 9 a.m. The cost
of admission is $6 per person, and first-time guests eat free.

14 students participate in Urban
Plunge
The
Joe Mertz Center
for Volunteer Service recently sponsored the Urban
Plunge, a mission trip for 14 Huntington University students.
Advisors included
the Rev. Bob Henry, assistant director of
campus ministries, and his wife, Sue.
The team drove to Chicago on Nov. 14 and stayed two
nights at Emmaus Ministries. The ministry’s purpose is to reach out
through relationship building and provide hope in Christ for men
involved in sexual exploitation.

Michelson attends convention
Dr.
Paul E. Michelson, distinguished professor of history,
recently attended the annual convention of the American
Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies in
Philadelphia, where he presided over a meeting of the
Society for Romanian Studies, chaired a panel on
"Breaking with the Past? Moldova and the Upcoming
Parliamentary Elections," and participated in an SRS
roundtable discussion on "Resources for Romanian Studies
and Personal Libraries."
Ballinger to show pieces in Japan
Bryan
Ballinger, assistant professor of digital media arts, has three
pieces that will be in an
illustration exhibit in Sapporo, Japan, at the ODORI
Museum in December. The theme of the show is fictional advertising
posters.
