The Journal of the Conference on Faith and History

FIDES ET HISTORIA is a refereed journal of history that appears twice a year. Submissions are welcomed on a wide variety of topics and themes related to the intersection of Christian faith and historical inquiry. It should be stressed that FIDES ET HISTORIA/i> does not deal only with religious or church history; the editors welcome scholarly research that is informed by Christian faith commitments. For example, the editors encourage submissions that:

assess historiographical trends as they relate to faith and history;
re-assess classic faith-and-history texts;
examine faith and history themes in religious traditions other than Christianity;
reflect on the careers of prominent believing historians;
explore questions related to meaning and history.

FIDES ET HISTORIA is abstracted and indexed in HISTORICAL ABSTRACTS/AMERICA:HISTORY AND LIFE; RIC and RIC Supplements, CERDIC/France; RELIGIOUS INDEX ONE: PERIODICALS; CHRISTIAN PERIODICAL INDEX; and RELIGIOUS AND THEOLOGICAL ABSTRACTS. It is indexed in IBZ: INTERNATIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHY OF PERIODICAL LITERATURE ON THE HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES; IBZ-CD ROM; IBZ-ONLINE; and ATLA RELIGION DATA BASE of the American Theological Library Association.

Manuscripts and Submissions
Submission of manuscripts for publication in FIDES ET HISTORIA implies that the work is original and that it has neither been previously published nor simultaneously submitted elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish copyrighted material. Inquiries and manuscripts should be directed to the editor at the address above. Inquiries concerning book reviews should be addressed to the book review editor.
Articles and reviews must be in English and should be submitted electronically to the editor in a Word attachment (double-spaced). Title, author's name, and institutional affiliation, if any, should appear at the top of the first page. FIDES ET HISTORIA follows the CHICAGO MANUAL OF STYLE. Notes will appear in the journal as footnotes, but should be typed double-spaced at the end of the manuscript and be numbered consecutively throughout the text. Acknowledgments should be typed at the beginning of the notes, but should not be numbered. A brief biographical sketch should accompany the submission.
The editors reserve the right to copyedit manuscripts to conform to the style of FIDES ET HISTORIA. If more substantial editing is required, the author will be contacted for approval prior to publication. The editors correct galley proofs.
