Conference onSouthern Religion, Social Practice, and Literature, Baylor

University. Scholars in literature, religion, oral history, anthropology,

philosophy, history, American studies, theater and otherrelevant

disciplines will be participating in a conference onthe intersection of

religion and social practices in Southernculture to be held at Baylor

University. The deadline for papers, both academic and fictions, and panel

Congratulations to Bob Swierenga whohas taken early retirement

from Kent State University after 28 years in order to assume the position

of ResearchProfessor in the newly-created A.C. Van Raalte Institute for

Historical Studies at Hope College. The purpose of the Institute is to

promote research in Dutch-American history and cultureand is the first

such historical research center on this subject.
